Tuning the Sierra YB Cosworth (2WD)
This classic Ford Sierra YB Cosworth 2WD is a tasty piece of old-school performance. The 2.0-litre YB engine came in for a bit more boost from the GT30 turbo setup.
On the laggier side due to the larger turbine housing, it still went extremely well on the road. The car had real character and plenty of old-school appeal. However, a smaller turbine housing on the GT30 would improve spool-up and sharpness considerably.
For this session, we laid down a solid base map to work from in the future. The custom ECU tune gave us a reliable starting point for the next stage of development. The Sierra YB Cosworth is one of the great icons of performance car history, and it is always a pleasure to work on one.
This one will be back. We look forward to fitting the correct turbo housing and extracting the full potential of this YB Cosworth engine on the dyno.
