TUNING THE NISSAN SR20DET (S14a)

This bone-stock Nissan SR20DET S14a was treated to a FCTuningNistune ECU solution and a mild cat-back exhaust upgrade. With the engine still essentially stock, there are massive gains still to be had in the future.

One highlight of this session was the boost control setup. So many cars arrive with independent boost controllers fitted, but most owners do not realise that boost can be fully programmed via the factory ECU using 3D boost mapping. This gives far more precision and flexibility than a standalone boost controller alone.

3D boost mapping allows different boost targets depending on throttle position and RPM. The result is a much more refined and controllable power delivery. This S14a benefited greatly from having the boost managed entirely through the ECU map. A great starting point for a car with a lot of future potential.
