TUNING THE NISSAN RB25DET (R32)
Something a little different on this Nissan RB25DET R32 Skyline GTSt. Rather than a standard turbo upgrade, this car was fitted with a modified Escort Cosworth T34 rally-spec brass-caged 360 roller bearing turbocharger. An unusual and impressive choice.
The T34 rally turbo is known for its fast spool-up and strong mid-range power delivery. Fitted to the RB25DET in the R32 chassis, it produced a nice, equal balance of power and torque with minimal lag — exactly what a BDC competition car needs.
The car was tuned with the Apexi Power FC ECU, which was calibrated on the dyno to suit the specific characteristics of the rally-spec turbo. The result was a fast-spooling, well-balanced drift weapon ready for the 2012 British Drift Championship season. Another well-prepared competitor car leaving FC Tuning in great shape.
