Its nice to see more love shown toward the RB20DET these days.

This well looked after skyline was down for an ECU upgrade – FCTuningNistune ECU, with additional launch control firmware.

It’s also fitted with a hybrid turbo charger, hence the nice increase in power over the factory 210hp

Enjoy the vid, in particular the RB20 fanatics. Nice simple mods applied to an unopened well looked after engine polished off with some FC Tuning.

The post TUNING THE NISSAN RB20DET (GTSt) first appeared on FC TUNING.

This Nissan RB20DET R32 drift taxi came in from the Driftworks stable for some TLC. It sports a lovely hybrid turbo built to the owner’s specification, and it makes a real difference to the power delivery.

The hybridised turbo on this RB20DET developed some serious kick. The engine responded well to the upgrade. However, the factory MAF sensor reached its limit under the increased flow. For safety, we had to detune the engine slightly while waiting for a correct Z32 MAF.

A defective Z32 MAF fitted mid-session forced us to revert to the stock unit for this visit. The car will return to unlock its full potential once the correct sensor is sourced.

For now, the FCTuningNistune ECU solution manages everything cleanly. The owner loves going sideways in style, and this R32 drift taxi delivers exactly that. Crack on sideways, Mr Drift Taxi.

The post TUNING THE NISSAN RB20DET (R32) first appeared on FC TUNING.

The goal was to bring this humble RB20DET back to life and get it ready for Driftworks sideways action.

The RB20DET is a classic Nissan inline-six turbocharged engine. In a lightweight R32 Skyline chassis, it makes a very capable drift car. With the Nistune ECU providing full control over the engine management, there is plenty of scope for tuning and development.

We carried out a full custom tune to suit the car’s current specification. Boost, fuelling, and ignition were all dialled in for the best balance of power and reliability. The R32 left the workshop ready to go sideways in style at Driftworks events.

The post TUNING THE NISSAN RB20DET (R32) first appeared on FC TUNING.

When the car first came in, the RB20DET was sluggish due to boost issues. The hybrid turbo had potential, but the boost control was not set up correctly. Once all boost issues had been identified and rectified, the transformation was immediate.

With everything sorted and the Nistune ECU tuned properly on the dyno, the RB20DET was fighting fit. The power delivery became smooth and linear — nice and smooth. A great daily driver and perfect for some sideways action when the mood takes you.

The post TUNING THE NISSAN RB20DET (R32) first appeared on FC TUNING.

This is an interesting build — an S14 chassis fitted with a Nissan RB20DET engine swap. The RB20DET is an inline-six turbocharged unit normally found in the R32 Skyline GTSt, making this S14 a unique and characterful package.

The combination of a lightweight S14 body and the torquey RB20DET with its inline-six character creates a very different driving experience compared to a standard SR20DET S14. It is a popular swap for drivers who want something a little different.

We carried out a full custom ECU tune on the dyno to suit the specific installation. Fuelling, ignition timing, and boost were all optimised for the swap. The result was a strong, smooth power delivery from a very interesting and capable car.

The post TUNING THE NISSAN RB20DET (S14) first appeared on FC TUNING.

Tuning any Nissan with a TD06 20G is always going to be a pleasure. When bolted up to a Stock RB20DET at a modest boost level, some great gains can be had.

This one was setup from scratch on an FCTuningNistune ECU Solution. Engine was still stock with just injectors, maf and a FMIC bolted on. The engine was in good health and as expected the results were impressive. I could have easily tune this more to WELL over 400hp but due to having no history on the engine we both agreed not to push things.

These RB20s really benefit from headwork and intake. With those upgrades and just a mild tune with more boost this engine would easily see 400hp with no effort.

A nicely prepped setup.

The post TUNING THE NISSAN RB20DET (R32) first appeared on FC TUNING.
