Never rule out the factory ECU if your just after a good tune without all the bells and whistles of additional Motorsport features.

The OEM ECU is an excellent cost effective way forward enabling the factory RB26DETT engine to be tuned. Some issues with the OEM coilpacks were experiences during tuning when running 1.4bar. So boost from the GT turbos was simply reduced to 1bar and 494hp. Wiring issues on the ignition coil loom has since been addressed and all that is needed now is to crank the boost up at a later date and get a true output as to what the 24 year old year old engine will do when we get it back on the Dyno for som final weeks.

This perfect example of a Nissan RB26DETT R32 GTR returned to FC Tuning for fuel system upgrades. The additions included an in-tank Aeromotive pump and a Bosch 044 inline pump. A set of ID1000 injectors were fitted to a top-feed GReddy fuel rail with twin entry.

This was the first Nistuned R32 in the UK running ID1000s that we had the pleasure of setting up. Even at a modest 3.5 bar fuel pressure, maximum injector duty cycles were at a comfortable 58 percent. That leaves plenty of headroom for more boost with larger turbines in the future.

The rock-solid idle, excellent cold start, and precise fuelling are all delivered by the factory OEM ECU running a Nistune ECU solution. With the engine still stock, we held boost to 1.6 bar peak from the GT2510 turbos. The RB26DETT delivered great power with strong spool-up and excellent response on the road.

Peak torque arrives early and spreads right through the rev range. This is one of the best R32 GTRs we have ever driven. It is solid, smooth, responsive, and rattlefree. The owner was generous enough to leave the car with us for two to three days, which allowed us to give it that extra level of care and attention.

The suspension and drive are wonderful. The exhaust note is tasteful enough for daily use without overwhelming conversation on the way. A real pleasure to drive — and it just wants to boost. When it does, it pulls and pulls given enough road. Enjoy it, and let us get it on track to really exploit it.

The post TUNING THE NISSAN RB26DETT (R32) first appeared on FC TUNING.

Another powerful Nissan RB26DETT R32 GTR running not a complex aftermarket ECU, but an FCTuningNistune ECU Solution based on the 25-year-old factory Hitachi ECU. Who says age matters?

This proves what is possible without spending thousands on aftermarket management systems and additional sensors. The factory ECU, properly mapped with Nistune, delivers outstanding results every time.

The engine is completely stock, running a proper HKS turbine at boost. After a session addressing fuel flow and supply issues, it was back on the dyno for the final tune. The stock RB26 responded brilliantly.

The owner has great respect for this car, and the previous owner did too. They have invested the right care and attention into the build. With the full FCTuningNistune custom tune completed, the GTR is ready. Future plans include 1.8 to 2 bar of boost, some bottom end machining and forging for reliability, and possible gearbox upgrades. This is one GTR that deserves every bit of love it receives.

The post TUNING THE NISSAN RB26DETT (R32) first appeared on FC TUNING.

The Power FC offers full control over fuelling, ignition timing, and boost management on the RB26DETT. With careful calibration on the dyno, it delivers excellent results even on highly modified builds.

This R32 GTR was producing big power from its well-sorted RB26DETT engine.
The sound from the RB26 powerhouse is something to smile about every time. The twin turbochargers on the RB26DETT spool and pull with a distinctive character that is impossible to replicate. They just pull and pull and pull all the way to the redline.

We carried out a full custom ECU tune to extract the best from this JDM R34 GTR.

This lovely Nissan RB26DETT R34 GTR Skyline returned to FC Tuning for more fine-tuning. The previous tune had seen the stock MAF sensors maxing out at around 490 horsepower. To go further, the stock units needed to be replaced.

A pair of Nismo MAF sensors were fitted to allow accurate airflow measurement beyond the stock limit. With the FCTuningNistune ECU recalibrated for the new sensors, we were able to run slightly more boost safely and accurately.

The retune produced nice gains thanks to the additional boost headroom the Nismo MAFs unlocked. This R34 GTR continues to develop into an increasingly capable machine. Another successful step forward for a very well-sorted Skyline build.

The post TUNING THE NISSAN RB26DETT (R34) first appeared on FC TUNING.

Another happy Driftworks Member on his way to skid heaven.

A very powerful road going R32 GTR sporting yet another FCTuningNistune ECU Solution.. will more R32 GTR owners follow suit? A pleasure to tune but this will be back with 1000cc injectors so the full power can be released. This had to be detuned due to high injector duty cycles…

A very powerful road going R32 GTR sporting yet another FCTuningNistune ECU Solution.. will more R32 GTR owners follow suit? A pleasure to tune but this will be back with 1000cc injectors so the full power can be released. This had to be detuned due to high injector duty cycles at top end. So Ive remapped this nice example it should be easily knocking on the door of 600hp.. which in my opinion is excellent performance and value for money from the Nissan Factory ECU.

Another FC Tuning ECU Solution doing the business.. ill wait to hear form the owner shortly and Im sure he will post his feedback soon on how the tuning path has gone so far.
